Character: Morgrim Steelshaper Backstory: As a younger boy, Morgrim adhered to the religious traditions of his family without question, but also without fervor. Attending mass, saluting the Hammer, knowing all of the lyrics to the hymns were all second-nature to Morgrim after some time. However, one day, he stayed at the church after mass after hearing a curious sound, a familiar ting, ting, ting of stone being struck on metal. He had known that sound from a young age, hearing his father toil in the family forge. Drawn to the sound, Morgrim pushed open a door, and saw one of the clergy having rolled up his sleeves, a hammer in one hand, tongs in the other, holding a bar of silver over an enchanted rune circle emanating a blue flame. The cleric held the bar over the flame, which would glow orange with the heat, and every so often, the cleric placed the bar upon an anvil carved in a depiction of Moradin’s Hammer, and the cleric would strike the metal, slowly shaping it. Morgrim watched, captivated, as he saw the cleric hammer, chisel and shape the silver into the blade for a sword. The cleric noticed Morgrim watching, and invited him in, showing him the process of forging. Morgrim impressed the cleric with what he knew of the process already, and the cleric showed Morgrim how the cleric could enchant the sword with ancient runes, causing the blade to erupt into flames that seemed to emanate from within the runes the cleric carved into the blade’s groove. This was the day that Morgrim saw the potential to go beyond what his family knew by becoming a Cleric of Moradin.
